Tutli-Putli crew adapt Sendak

Another of Maurice Sendak’s works is getting the film treatment as the National Film Board and Warner Home Video prepare to unveil Higglety Pigglety Pop! or There Must Be More to Life . The live-action and animated short comes from Chris Lavis and Maciek Szczerbowski of Clyde Henry Productions, creators of Oscar-nominated Madame Tutli-Putli.

Higglety features the voices of Meryl Streep and Forest Whitaker, and is produced by Spike Jonze, Vincent Landay and Marcy Page. It will be included on the Blu-ray release of Where the Wild Things Are, due March 2. The story follows a young dog and her dreams of landing a big stage role.

Higglety will premiere just prior to that, however, on Feb. 28 at the Festival International du Film pour Enfants in Montreal. The NFB will distribute a DVD this summer.
