Blain goes solo

Jacques Blain

Jacques Blain, producer of the hit film C.R.A.Z.Y. and the beloved television series La vie, la vie, has founded a new company which will focus on features and TV drama.

Blain, who founded Cirrus Communications in 1996, said in a statement that he started Lusio Films because he wants to concentrate on project development: ‘After focusing on all aspects of this business, I realized that I wanted work with writers and directors,’ he said.

Lusio will partner with Zone3, which will provide Blain with the infrastructure he needs to get films off the ground. Zone3 was itself in the news earlier this week when it partnered with Incendo to make English-language TV.

Blain is currently working on Le torrent, an adaptation of a work by Quebec writer Anne Hébert which will be directed by Simon Lavoie (Le déserteur).
