E1 Entertainment has cast musician Faith Evans in a new reality series and, in a separate deal, found the star for its series Haven.
The Toronto company said Monday that Emily Rose (Jericho) has taken the lead in Haven, a supernatural drama based on a book by Stephen King. Rose plays an FBI agent sent to a small New England town to investigate the murder of an ex-con. Shooting is expected to start this spring for Syfy and NBU pay channels around the globe.
Faith Evans, meanwhile, will front a new reality series about her return to the limelight after a five-year absence. Made in partnership with Evans and Ten2One Entertainment, It’s All About Faith will follow the Grammy-winning singer as she juggles marriage, four children and her career.
Evans’ upcoming studio album will be distributed by E1’s music division, making good on topper John Morayniss’ recent remarks that the company is looking to marry its musical artists with docu-soaps.
In other news, E1 has renewed its output agreement with Lakeshore Entertainment. The multi-year deal unveiled Monday will see E1 continue to distribute Lakeshore films in all media across Canada, expected to work out to four titles a year.
The first movie carried under the new deal will be The Lincoln Lawyer, starring Matthew McConaughey. Previous Lakeshore titles have included Million Dollar Baby, The Mothman Prophecies and Crank.
Lakeshore first came into the E1 fold when the Toronto company purchased Maximum Films Distribution in 2008.
