Former inmates are headed back to kitchen duty for Citytv after indie producer Cineflix Productions earned a second season pickup for Conviction Kitchen.

The homegrown reality series, which also airs on Planet Green stateside, puts ex-cons put through a culinary wringer under the watchful eye of Toronto chef Marc Thuet and business partner Biana Zorich as they train to be restaurant chefs and waiters while remaining on the straight and narrow.

Cineflix plans a summer 2010 shoot for the second season after City aired the rookie season with eight episodes last fall.
