Conan O’Brien ended his last episode as host of The Tonight Show on a high note Friday, scoring his best ratings since he took over the now-contentious spot seven months ago.
The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien netted nearly 600,000 viewers (2+) on A at 11:35 p.m. ET — the biggest audience since he took over hosting duties from Jay Leno in the spring. The number is 466% higher than the season-to-date average of The Tonight Show, according to CTV, which owns the A channels. It also ranked as the top show of the day among audiences 18-34.
O’Brien also posted his best numbers stateside on NBC since taking over Tonight, and beat out the Late Show with David Letterman, according to Variety.
The show featured guests Tom Hanks, Will Ferrell and musician Neil Young, while The Office star Steve Carell also made an appearance and conducted an ‘exit interview’ with O’Brien.
Over on CBC, the latest installment of Test the Nation saw strong numbers on Sunday, averaging over one million viewers (2+) at 8 p.m. Hosted by George Stroumboulopoulos and Carole MacNeil, Test the Nation: IQ quizzed six teams comprised of politicians including Justin Trudeau and former NHL-er Glenn Healy.
