The Line, Flashpoint cast up for ACTRA trophies

Lead talent from The Line and Flashpoint are up for top honors from ACTRA Toronto. The actors union on Thursday named nominees for its annual awards, nodding to Flashpoint’s Noam Jenkins as one of the five actors up for best male performer, and to Tasha Lawrence of The Line for best female.

Lawrence is up against another Flashpoint-er, Kathleen Munroe, for the prize. The other nominees in the category are Rhea Akler, seen in the short film Undercurrent, Kristin Booth for her turn in At Home By Myself… With You, and Kateri Walker of the feature Kissed by Lightning.

Among the men, Jenkins faces K.C. Collins for the mini Guns, The Listener‘s Ennis Esmer, Republic of Doyle star Allan Hawco for his role in the feature Love and Savagery, and Daniel Kash, who appears with Lawrence on The Line.

The juried prizes include a third category for best voice work. The nominees are Juan Chioran (Grossology), Paul Fauteux of the radio series Afghanada, Julie Lemieux (Spliced), Carolyn Scott (Best Ed), and Ron Pardo, heard on the recent Bob & Doug cartoon series.

The awards will be handed out in Toronto on Feb. 19.
