Scott Speedman, Emily Hampshire and Jay Baruchel have gone to work on Notre Dame de Grace, Jacob Tierney’s new picture now shooting in Montreal for Park Ex Pictures.

The $5.3 million thriller sees Tierney reunited with many of the cast and crew of his festival hit The Trotsky, including his father and producer Kevin Tierney (Bon Cop, Bad Cop). Hampshire and Baruchel, both former ‘Trotskyites’ in the lingo of Park Ex, will again be seen on screen with Anne-Marie Cadieux, Kaniehtiio Horn, Jessica Paré and Pat Kiely.

Also appearing will be Micheline Lanctôt (Familia), Xavier Dolan (J’ai tué ma mère), Clara Furey (Serveuses demandées) and Gary Farmer (Twist).

Though apparently darker than the comedic Trotsky, the elder Tierney has described NDG as ‘a comedy… on the nicest side of scary.’

The picture shoots in Montreal until Feb. 19, and comes from the thriller Chère voisine by Quebec novelist Chrystine Brouillet. Baruchel, Speedman and Hampshire star as residents of an apartment block in the titular neighborhood, where a serial killer is on a rampage.

Guy Dufaux, another Trotsky alum, is DOP. Members of the Montreal band Thee Silver Mt. Zion are composing the score.

The Trotsky is due in theaters on May 14 through Alliance.
