LOS ANGELES — So much work went into designing the suits for Where the Wild Things Are that, when it came time to shoot, the construction fell a little short, says DOP Lance Acord, speaking at the recent HD Expo. (See the other Acord videos.)

‘There were a lot of shortcomings in some ways,’ he says. ‘A lot of time in preproduction was based more on character design — really getting the characters to look right. Once it came time to build them, just because of the crunch of budget and time and everything… in some ways it really needed to be helped by photography.’
