Seven Canwest channels and three from Corus have joined the lineup of the new video portal, Rogers On Demand Online.
Following word last week of the Hulu-style video service, Rogers on Monday unveiled a lineup of 27 channels, putting its own properties alongside those of Canwest and Corus. The lineup includes Global, Citytv, HGTV, OLN, Rogers Sportsnet, Slice, Showcase, Super Channel, Teletoon, Treehouse, TVO, TVtropolis and YTV.
The channels are being offered to any customer with a Rogers account — free as a value-add. The service is supported by advertising.
The announcement also included news that Starcom MediaVest Group has signed a deal with Rogers on behalf of its clients — including RIM, Kellogg’s, Kraft and Samsung — for an exclusive launch sponsorship with the service. Starcom CEO Lauren Richards says the company ‘believes in the growth potential of the on-demand platform and will continue to strive to be in at the ground floor of new opportunities for our clients.’
