Blue Rodeo is partnering with Rhombus Media and Brightlight Pictures on the soundtrack to Gunless, the upcoming spoof western starring Paul Gross.
Band member Greg Keelor is creating the film’s original score, which will also feature songs from the country/rock band, including Don’t Let the Darkness in Your Head, which will accompany the closing credits. The song appears on the band’s recent album, The Things We Left Behind. Gunless is the band’s first soundtrack collaboration.
‘It has been a long time dream to get Blue Rodeo to score a film I’m involved with, and this one just screamed for their style. Their music and wit will breathe fresh air into the genre and result in a soundtrack which I’m sure will become a classic in its own right,’ commented Rhombus producer Niv Fichman (Passchendaele, Blindness) in a release.
Shot in B.C., Gunless follows a notorious American gunslinger (Gross) who finds himself at home on the Canadian range — from a script written and directed by William Phillips (Foolproof).
The film will be released by Alliance Films in the spring
