Arclight Films has nabbed the international rights to The Wild Hunt, from Montreal writer/director Alexandre Franchi.
The film — which scored the best Canadian first feature film trophy at the Toronto International Film Festival — follows a young man who crashes a medieval re-enactment game to win his girlfriend back from a charismatic suitor. It stars Mark A. Krupa (The Last Templar) and Ricky Mabe (The Trotsky).
‘This is a truly remarkable feature directing debut with great box-office potential for audiences around the world,’ commented Arclight president of sales and acquisitions Mark Lindsay in a release.
Los Angeles-based Arclight says it is introducing the film to international distributors at the American Film Market, currently underway.
Wild Hunt will also screen at next month’s Whistler Film Festival, where it is a finalist in the Borsos Competition for best new Canadian feature. TVA Films will release the film in Canada in 2010.
