There’s word that former Telefilm head François Macerola may be appointed the president of Quebec’s film financing agency SODEC this week.
The French-language daily La Presse reported last week that SODEC’s board recommended Macerola to succeed Jean-Guy Chaput, who was asked to step down in June after an auditor general’s report accused him of careless spending.
Macerola was formerly head of the National Film Board of Canada. He was also a Liberal candidate in the 1998 Quebec provincial election but was defeated.
SODEC spokeswoman Elizabeth Boileau says news of Macerola’s appointment is just a rumor at this point. ‘We have no official information. SODEC’S board made a closed door recommendation and now it’s up to the government to make the information public once they have decided.’
