No Joy for managers

Two executives at Joytv’s B.C. office have been laid off as part of a cost-cutting move by parent S-VOX.

General manager Terry Mahoney and general sales manager Gary Milne’s positions were eliminated, as the spiritually minded caster moves to secure ‘financial sustainability’ of Joytv 10, according to a Tuesday press release.

Joytv serves the Vancouver and Winnipeg areas as Joytv10 and Joytv11, respectively. The stations were relaunched under the Joytv name in 2008, when S-VOX acquired two former OMNI stations in Western Canada.

‘Mahoney and Milne are dedicated professionals who care deeply about Joytv 10, and we thank them for their contributions. S-VOX is fully invested in the continued growth and success of the station, and will move forward from here with a renewed focus on local sales and promotions,’ commented S-VOX CEO Bill Roberts, adding that local programming also remains a ‘high priority’ for Joytv 10.

Managers at Joytv 10 will now report directly to senior staff at S-VOX in Toronto.
