Carrie Stein, CEO of Los Angeles-based producer Alchemy Television, a major backer of international co-productions between U.S., Canadian and foreign broadcasters, has left the company.
Stein has been replaced after three years in the post by Marc Hirshberg as interim CEO.
The departure impacts domestic producers as Alchemy has been key to distributing or producing a host of Canadian TV projects in world markets.
On the distribution side, Alchemy helped distribute Pink Sky Entertainment and Avamar Entertainment’s Flashpoint into 200 markets, Sienna Films, Buffalo Gal Pictures and Love Reigns’ Diamonds mini-series, and brokered a deal with ABC for the U.S. rights to Galafilm’s single-camera comedy 18 to Life.
Stein’s departure follows Alchemy getting deep into tentpole TV, including the upcoming Ben Hur mini-series, co-produced by Muse Entertainment, and the Coco Chanel mini-series.
