U.S. home for Victoria

Jean-Marc Vallée’s latest has found a home in the U.S., where Apparition has picked up The Young Victoria.

The New York-based start-up says it will release the biopic of the British monarch on Nov. 13, roughly two months after it brings down the curtain on this fall’s Toronto International Film Festival.

The deal will also see Sony Pictures Worldwide Distribution Acquisitions Group handle ancillary distribution in the U.S., per its agreement with Apparition. The company announced its arrival just last week, fronted by Hollywood vet Bob Berney and investor Bill Pohlad.

Berney tells Variety that the movie will have a platform release on 25 to 30 screens, stepping up to a few hundred after that.

The Young Victoria was released through Momentum Pictures in the U.K. in March. It will be handled here by Alliance Films, though a release date has not been announced.

The GK Films production stars Emily Blunt as Queen Victoria, joined by Rupert Friend as her husband Albert. Paul Bettany, Miranda Richardson and Jim Broadbent also star. Its producers are Graham King, Martin Scorsese, Tim Headington and Sarah Ferguson. Denis O’Sullivan coproduced, Colin Vaines exec produced.
