Phase 4 Films has picked up the English DVD rights to Flashpoint, and will release the first season of the CTV/CBS action series on Oct. 13.
The start-up distributor was formed earlier this year when Peace Arch Entertainment and its partner ContentFilm spun off their North American home entertainment joint venture, forming a new outfit led by Berry Meyerowitz.
‘Flashpoint is an outstanding series and we are thrilled to be releasing it on DVD,’ said Meyerowitz in a release. ‘It is rare that a Canadian series is so popular in the U.S. and Canada.’
The company also has dibs on season two, due on shelves next year. The series is currently waiting to see if CBS will follow CTV’s lead in ordering a third season. It is made in Toronto by Pink Sky Entertainment and Avamar Entertainment.
The 13 episodes that comprise season one will be released on DVD and Blu-ray. The release will be co-ordinated with CBS/Paramount Home Entertainment in the U.S.
