Shooting on The Republic of Doyle is expected to resume on Thursday, following an outbreak of swine flu on its St John’s set.
Three cases of the H1N1 influenza virus were recently confirmed among the crew, leading to a brief shutdown. Two have since been told by a doctor that they are fit to return to work, according to producer Rob Blackie of Take the Shot Productions. The third is resting at home and is also expected to return to work.
The shoot missed five days out of its schedule as a result. ‘We’ll make up those days either in the body of the schedule or by tacking on some additional days,’ says Blackie.
The Republic of Doyle has been shooting in Newfoundland since early July, and is due to air on CBC in the 2009/10 season. It stars Sean McGinley and Allan Hawco as a father-and-son team of private investigators.
