Space adds Tin Man

Space has picked up the three-part mini-series Tin Man, adding the eerie redo of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz to its August schedule.

The mini will air over three consecutive nights starting Saturday, August 1 at 9 p.m. ET.

Tin Man is a dark re-telling of the L. Frank Baum story and stars Zooey Deschanel (The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy) as DG, the Dorothy character, Alan Cumming (X-Men United) in the scarecrow role and Richard Dreyfuss as the Mystic Man.

The six-hour mini shot in Vancouver in 2007 under producers Robert Halmi Sr. and Robert Halmi Jr. of RH International, who re-teamed with their frequent B.C. partners, producers Matthew and Michael O’Connor (Earthsea, Riverworld, Snow Queen) of Reunion Pictures. It aired on the Sci Fi Channel in the U.S. later that year.

It was written by Steven Long Mitchell and Craig W. Van Sickle and directed by Nick Willing.
