Anglos rally round CBC

A coalition of English-speaking arts and community groups in Quebec has joined the campaign to save the CBC launched in June by Radio-Canada’s largest union, the Syndicat des communications de Radio-Canada.

‘English-speaking Quebecers in Montreal are concerned about the latest round of cutbacks at CBC and Radio Canada,’ the organizations said in a joint release. ‘We believe that the very existence of an institution dear to our hearts is threatened and, with that, the vitality of our communities.’

The groups supporting the ‘I Am We Are For a Quality Public Broadcaster’ campaign include the Quebec Community Groups Network, BCP Communications, Qu’anglo Communications, the English-Language Arts Network and the Greater Montreal Community Development Initiative.
