Peter Lynch is adapting Paul Quarrington’s Galveston into a feature film, having picked up the rights to the tragicomic tale of storm-chasing eccentrics on a Caribbean island.
Lynch, best known for 1996’s Project Grizzly and the more recent Whale of a Tale, will direct from a screenplay adapted by Quarrington himself. The deal was negotiated by Sarah Cooper of The Saint Agency.
The pair are also said to be working together on an original script for a drama, described as a ‘surveillance noir thriller.’
Quarrington also worked on the adaptation of his acclaimed novel Whale Music, which came to the big screen in 1994 from director Richard J. Lewis, who recently signed on to helm the Mordecai Richler redo Barney’s Version.
