Red goes deep

The Red is now able to go where no Red has gone before – deep underwater. Thanks to a new custom marine housing from Aquavideo, the Red One can now dive to 250 feet without surface-fed cable.

The aluminum housing can handle PL lenses of 12mm, 10mm, 14mm, and 18-50mm, as well as super-wide DSLR Canon EF lenses (with a Birger converter). The housing holds the camera, battery, a five-inch monitor and one hard drive on a camera tray which slides into the housing. The whole package weighs in at about 55 pounds on land. The system is capable of three hours of continuous underwater recordings.

At press time, Toronto’s DJ Woods was the sole Canadian source for the Aquavideo housing.
