Teletoon is putting five animated series online following a deal with iTunes. As part of a deal announced late Monday with the music and video retailer, the cartoon channel said it will make recent episodes of its tween comedies 6Teen, Total Drama Island and Total Drama Action available for purchase in Canada, along with the more grown-up Life’s a Zoo and Rick and Steve: The Happiest Gay Couple in All the World.
‘Moving forward, iTunes will play an important role in launches of new shows,’ says VP of business affairs Trent Locke, including, it is hoped, the sale of back catalogue episodes and Teletoon-related iPhone games.
All five series have a Canadian connection. Life’s a Zoo and Rick and Steve are produced by Cuppa Coffee Studios in Toronto, the latter also airs on Logo in the U.S., while 6Teen and the Total Drama shows come from Fresh TV.
