Murder leads Global’s mid-season

Global will debut three primetime series this spring targeting the 18-49 demo — the new cop dramedy The Unusuals on Wednesdays, the whodunnit Harper’s Island on Thursdays, and Sit Down, Shut up, which will join the network’s Sunday cartoon lineup. All shows will also be available online at globaltv.com.

Harper’s Island launches on April 9 at 10 p.m. The 13-episode murder mystery is about friends and family who travel to an island for a destination wedding. Each episode someone is killed, and the murderer will be revealed by the final episode on July 2.

Its presence at globaltv.com lets murder mystery fans do what they do best — ID the killer. In addition to streaming full episodes, weekly victim polls and character bios will help wannabe solvers sort out the plot. And at harpersglobe.com, a series extension unspools a storyline about a fictional journalist hired by the island’s paper to start an online community. The first of the 17 digital-only episodes will launch on Wednesday to spark interest ahead of the broadcast.

On April 8, The Unusuals, starring Amber Tamblyn (The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants) and Adam Goldberg (Entourage) as New York cops, debuts at 10 p.m. The eight-episode show revolves around Tamblyn’s character, a new recruit to the homicide squad.

Sit Down, Shut Up bows on April 19 at 8:30 p.m., slotted between fan favorites The Simpsons and Family Guy. From Arrested Development creator Mitch Hurwitz, the animated comedy reunites Arrested stars Jason Bateman, Henry Winkler and Will Arnett and is slated for a six-episode run.
