Costello to follow Flashpoint

CTV has set a date with Elvis Costello, and will premiere his musically minded Spectacle talk show on April 3 — putting the series in the Friday 10 p.m. slot following Flashpoint and taking the place of Steven Bochco’s mid-seasoner Raising the Bar.

Spectacle: Elvis Costello with… debuted on the Sundance Channel and on Channel 4 late last year, and has played well with critics. CTV says it will rerun the 13-part talker on Bravo, after the similar Inside the Actors Studio.

Spectacle is a Canada/U.K. copro by Tri-Fi Productions — a banner comprised of SpyBox Pictures, Prospero Pictures and Reinvention Entertainment — in Toronto and Rocket Pictures, the production shingle of Elton John and David Furnish. It was created and executive produced by Canadian music journalist Stephen Warden.

The series will see Costello interview musicians and other notable guests, starting with his executive producer Elton John. Other guests include Canuck crooner Diana Krall, Bill Clinton, Tony Bennett and Lou Reed.
