CTV has greenlit a second season of So You Think You Can Dance Canada, re-pairing with Danse TV Productions on the northern-ized redo of the popular reality show. The network, which is partway through touring a live adaptation of the show across the country, said during the Toronto stop on Thursday that it will bring back the competition that paid off so well in the fall.
‘The success of the first season of So You Think You Can Dance Canada has inspired a whole new group of dancers across the country,’ said programming boss Susanne Boyce. ‘With the talent Canada has to offer, the second season is sure to be even more show-stopping than the first.’
The renewal comes as no surprise, considering the warm response that greeted the series. Dance Canada averaged 1.4 million viewers per week in the fall. Details on the new season, including auditions, are to be announced later.
The show is based on the format from 19 Entertainment and Dick Clark Productions, produced here by Danse TV in association with CTV. Sandra Faire and Trisa Dayot are executive producers.
