Longtime CTV weatherman Dave Devall has announced plans to retire following his final newscast on April 3 on the local CFTO station in Toronto.
He will be replaced by Tom Brown of CTV News at Noon, but will make periodic appearances for special events or to fill in for colleagues. The announcement was made Monday on CTV News at 6.
Devall joined CTV Toronto in 1961 after he completed his studies in Radio and Television Arts at Ryerson University. He was also a member of the Royal Canadian Air Force, where he received some of his training in meteorology.
‘I’ve always said that I’ll retire when I get it right and I think that I’ve finally done it!’ commented Devall in a release, adding, ‘I am very excited to start this new chapter.’
CTV will count down Devall’s final days on air with tributes and special events throughout the next few months.
