Breakthrough, Decode ink deals

Milan-based licensing agency TeamWorks is partnering with Toronto’s Breakthrough Entertainment to bring the animated series Atomic Betty to Italian audiences.

The deal will see TeamWorks acquiring the rights to TV, home video, and licensing and merchandising activities on the series, which revolves around the brainy superhero Atomic Betty, who’s on a mission to defend the Earth from evil. Atomic Betty is a coproduction with Breakthrough Animation, Vancouver’s Atomic Cartoons and France’s TeleImages, and has already been licensed to broadcasters in more than 125 territories.

Meanwhile, it looks like DHX Media and Aardman Animations’ crack team of crime-fighting chickens is headed for French airwaves.

Decode Enterprises has inked a deal for Chop Socky Chooks that will see the 26 x 22 CGI series bowing on public broadcaster France 3. The series, a coproduction between Halifax’s DHX and the U.K.’s Aardman, targets kids seven to 11.
