Rebranding at Red Rover

The TV production arm of Red Rover is now operating under a new handle, ToonBox Entertainment, and will focus its efforts on CG and stereoscopic films, commercial production services and animated series work.

The Toronto-based animation house is already in production on its first project, BLIP, a 26 x 22 CG series that debuted as D.A.N.D.Y. at last year’s MIPTV. The concept has undergone a branding and story makeover under the guidance of new head writer Riccardo Durante, whose credits include work on Wayside and Gruesomestein’s Monsters. The series is about two droids who fulfill their dream to take part in a series of robot competitions that humans have devised to work out their Earthly disputes.

Budgeted at US$350,000 per episode, the series is pegged for completion in November.
