Théroux tops at CAFDE

Entertainment One’s Patrice Théroux has been named chairman of the Canadian Association of Film Distributors and Exporters, replacing outgoing chair Victor Loewy.

The veteran distributor brings over 25 years of experience to CAFDE, a non-profit group that fronts the interests of Canadian-owned and -controlled film distributors and exporters. Its members include Alliance Films, Maple Pictures, E1 Films and Mongrel Media.

‘A strong and vibrant community of Canadian film distributors is critical to the health of the Canadian film industry at home and abroad. I am convinced that we can build on the success and growth of our industry over the past 20 years,’ commented Théroux in a statement on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Bryan Gliserman, co-president of E1’s Filmed Entertainment, has been appointed CAFDE vice-chair of English Canada, while Alliance Vivafilm’s Patrick Roy will continue duties as vice-chair for Quebec. Maple Pictures’ Brad Pelman retains his position as CAFDE treasurer.
