Joost tunes in to E1

Entertainment One has signed a deal with Joost to stream music content from its Koch Entertainment division on the web.

Joost said U.S.-based Koch — which aggregates digital audio and video content — will supply music entertainment including video content from the latter’s roster of indie labels, the largest in North America, which includes Suburban Noize and Fat Boy Records.

E1’s deal with web TV pioneer Joost follows its agreement last week with Cineplex Entertainment to process orders and distribute for the exhibition giant’s new e-commerce site, the Cineplex Store at cineplex.com. E1 will process and ship orders of DVDs and Blu-ray discs from an inventory of around 10,000 titles, which includes new releases and classic Hollywood films.

The move comes as both E1 and Cineplex step up efforts in digital media and online distribution.

‘The introduction of the Cineplex Store gives our guests another reason to visit our site and keep them coming back,’ Ellis Jacob, president and CEO of Cineplex Entertainment, said of the his foray from the big screen into home entertainment.
