SCN has tapped Vancouver TV maker John Thomson as its new executive producer, effective Dec. 1.

Thomson will work alongside independent producers to develop and commission new television shows for the Regina-based educational broadcaster.

A graduate in fine arts from the University of Manitoba, Thomson has mainly produced current affairs programs and documentaries such as the film In the Footsteps of Michelangelo, which aired on SCN.

‘Thomson brings with him over 20 years of expertise producing programs and managing people, including valuable experience in both private and public sector production,’ commented SCN president and CEO Twyla MacDougall, in a release.

‘In my new job with SCN, I hope to ensure that the distinctive flavor of Saskatchewan will continue to be reflected across all SCN platforms in an intelligent and captivating way,’ added Thomson.
