• CCI Releasing has picked up the international rights to the tween comedy Alice Upside Down. The series – featuring Alyson Stoner (Cheaper by the Dozen), Lucas Grabeel (High School Musical), Luke Perry and Penny Marshall – is the third recent pickup by the Toronto shop following the family comedy feature A Plumm Summer and Gemini-nominated MOW Sticks and Stones. It is handled in the U.S. by Starz Entertainment.
• Montreal-based sales company Delphis Films has picked up the international rights to the Dutch family adventure The Letter for the King (De Brief voor de koning). The deal gives Delphis world rights excluding the Benelux nations, Germany, Austria and the German-speaking regions of Switzerland.
• Decode Enterprises has inked a deal with Adastra Creative to distribute its new live-action kids comedy Grandpa in My Pocket, currently in production for CBeebies. As the series’ worldwide sales agent, Decode will have TV, DVD and consumer products rights when the 26 x 12 series launches next year.
• Shaw Digital Cable has picked up the Punjabi-language broadcasts of CBC’s Hockey Night in Canada, joining carriers Rogers and Bell TV. The 55-game Punjabi package has been airing online at cbcsports.ca since Oct. 4.
