Veteran Canadian stage and screen actor Colm Feore on Monday walked onto the Toronto set of The Listener to co-star in the homegrown paranormal series set to air on CTV, NBC and Fox International.
Shaftesbury Films says Feore, best known for his movie work and a recurring role on Fox’s 24, will appear throughout the initial 13 episodes of The Listener in the role of a wise mentor to the young paramedic Toby Logan, played by Craig Olejnik, who is able to read minds.
Feore’s Yoda-like character is the only one in the series to know of the telepathic paramedic’s hidden talents.
The Listener, developed by CTV, was bought by NBC last January during the Hollywood writers strike, and is set to air in some 175 countries.
The series was created by Michael Amo (Blessed Stranger: After Flight 111). Director Clement Virgo shot the pilot for The Listener last summer.
The Listener shares with Flashpoint on CTV and CBS attention for signaling a possible paradigm shift as homegrown dramas developed and produced in Canada are sold to U.S. networks eager to do international collaborations.
Feore is represented in the U.S. by Endeavor Talent Agency.
