This issue, featuring our annual Fall TV Report Card for the private conventional broadcasters, sees Etan Vlessing taking over as Playback’s TV columnist. To regular readers of Playback, Etan needs no introduction. Our intrepid contributor has for the past year written about the travails of the feature film industry in our Big Screen column.
Meanwhile, the Small Screen column has been idle for several issues now, and we are very excited that Etan will be lending his deep industry knowledge and insight to that space, in what is likely the most interesting times the Canadian broadcasting sector has ever seen.
Etan’s shift to the small screen has created a vacancy that, starting this issue, will be filled by new Big Screen columnist Denis Seguin. A keen observer of the cinema scene for some 15 years, Denis has contributed to numerous publications, including Screen International, Screen Daily, Canadian Business and The Walrus. He is also a documentary writer, with credits including 100 Films and a Funeral.
Denis began contributing to Playback earlier this year from the Berlin International Film Festival, and frankly, we couldn’t think of anyone better suited to taking over the Big Screen space.
