• CBC is not renewing the contracts of foreign correspondents Don Murray in London and Beijing’s Patrick Brown. The network says neither newsman will be re-signed following the expiration of their current contracts later this year, though a Ceeb spokesman raised the possibility that they might continue to report on a freelance basis.

• Citytv has handed the hosting duties of CityLine to one of its own, tapping Tracy Moore of BreakfastTelevision to lead the long-running daytime show. The hiring follows the departure of longtime host Marilyn Denis, now with CTV, and a summer-long casting call for her replacement. Moore has worked on BT and the City news team since 2005, and makes her official debut as host on Oct. 27.

• Rainmaker has put veteran producer Jennifer Twiner-McCarron atop the its film, DVD and game productions, promoting her from an animation post to VP of production. The Vancouver shop has also named Kimberly Dennison to the new position of director of development, and Barbara Dawson as director of talent relations and recruiting. Tony Pelle has been promoted to director of technology.

• John Shannon is the new executive of programming and production for NHL Network for both Canada and the U.S. Shannon, who spent six years with Hockey Night in Canada as executive producer, continues on as EVP of programming and production for the National Hockey League.

• Trish Mehrasa has taken over as national operations manager, heading up all marketing and sponsorship activities for Kodak Canada’s entertainment imaging division. Gaston Bernier now manages the production sales team, while Michel Golitzinsky leads sales for post-production. All moves follow Johanna Gravelle’s relocation to Kodak’s Asia Pacific branch.

• Diane Rankin is leaving Brunico Communications, publisher of Playback, after 13 years. The longtime publishing exec exits to head up Cineflix’s international acquisitions team out of its London office.

• Aimee Powell is now director of sales and business development at APTN, based out of the Toronto office. She takes over for Mike Peterkin, who was promoted to director of business development – strategic planning.

• Rob Hislop is the new host of Citytv Edmonton’s supper-hour, magazine-style program Your City. Hislop was news anchor and co-host on the station’s BreakfastTelevision since 2001. Ryan Jespersen takes over for Hislop on BT.

• Toronto-based distributor BuzzTaxi Communications has added Kirsten Hurd as director of sales. Hurd – who previously worked for Decode Entertainment, CBC and Cookie Jar – will oversee sales in Asia, Australia, New Zealand, eastern Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
