• Empire Theaters has added two locations in Manitoba to its chain, buying theaters in Brandon and Winkler from co-owner Landmark Cinemas. Effective Oct. 31, the Halifax-based chain will be full owner of the nine-screen Capitol Theatre in Brandon and the five-screen Southland Theatre in Winkler, a small city of some 10,000 people to the southwest of Regina.

• Decode Enterprises has closed three deals in Europe for Bo on the GO!, sending the preschool property by its sister company Halifax Film to the U.K. and France. The series has been picked up by British kiddiecaster CITV and has also signed licensing/merchandising deals with Brandzoo, also in the U.K., and with France Televisions Distribution. CITV will re-voice the title character to better suit a British audience, says Decode.

• Fox has ordered a full season of Fringe, extending the life of the sci-fi spooker seen here on the A channels by another nine episodes.

• Shaftesbury Films has inked new deals for Life with Derek. VRT in Belgium has acquired free-TV rights to the first three seasons of the live-action comedy, while season four renewals are now in place with broadcasters including Vrak.TV, France 2, Boomerang in the U.K., Israel’s Noga and the Disney Channels in the U.S., Italy, Germany, Latin America, Portugal and India. As well, the Disney Channels in Japan and France have acquired the third season.

• Sinking Ship has orders for another round of its The Jungle Room – now to be known as The Ocean Room. TVOntario, Access in Alberta and Knowledge have picked up the second season of the preschool reality, set to air next fall. SCN, which aired season one along with the other educasters, is still in talks.

• Domino Film and Television International has picked up the feature mockumentary Sure Shot Dombrowski from Western Directives.

• Australian producer and distributor dSP Beyond has linked arms with Distraction to make shows from the format broker’s catalogue at home and in New Zealand. The deal paves the way for an Aussie version of The Next Great Leader, a version of which aired here on CBC. Distraction will be the exclusive international distributor, outside of Australia and New Zealand, for all dSP Beyond formats.

• Portfolio Entertainment has sold all three seasons (65 x 30) of gay-aimed travel show Bump! to Logo. The series is produced by Pink Triangle Press and Peace Point Entertainment Group.

• Sid the Science Kid, a new preschooler series from The Jim Henson Company, is headed north to TVOntario, SCN and Knowledge in B.C. The half-hour CG series debuted earlier this month on PBS.
