Fresh TV and Blueprint Entertainment have teamed up to coproduce a new teen series, In Maya’s Opinion. The single-camera series is currently in development with Corus Entertainment’s YTV and will follow the ups and downs of an overly imaginative 14-year-old girl though a mix of live action and CG.
‘Using CG animation to enhance Maya’s unique personality, we feel this show will bring a new style of comedy to the live action genre,’ said Jocelyn Hamilton, VP content at Corus Kids, in a statement. ‘Our team is having so much fun developing this project and we are really looking forward to making our audience connect with our characters’ lives.’
The half-hour series, aimed at 10- to 14-year-olds, comes from creators Jeffrey Alan Schechter (Overruled!, Erky Perky) and Jeff Biederman (Overruled!, Life with Derek). Its executive producers are Frank Saperstein and John Morayniss for Blueprint and Tom McGillis, Jennifer Pertsch, Brian Irving and George Elliott for Fresh.
Maya’s Opinion will be distributed globally by Oasis International and is expected to be in production in April.
