CTV has promoted Trish Stratus to the main network, if not primetime. The net said Wednesday it will run five episodes of the former pro wrestler’s travel show, Stratusphere, on its main network Saturdays at 1 p.m. starting this weekend.
The 10-episode series has been playing well on its digichannel Travel + Escape, where it has been part of the primetime Monday lineup since its September debut, according to CTV. Stratusphere is produced by Suddenly SeeMore… Productions (No Opportunity Wasted) and follows the Toronto-area native to exotic locations, where Stratus (The Second City’s Next Comedy Legend) takes on athletic and other physical challenges. It is also scheduled to air on Discovery HD this winter.
The episodes due to air on the main network include a bout of traditional Vietnamese wrestling, bungee jumping in Bali and paragliding in India.
CTV has also added Breeder of the Pack and The Chef’s Domain from its sister channels Animal Planet and Travel + Escape, respectively, to its Saturday afternoon schedule. The five-part series on dog breeding and the cross-Canada cooking show come from Lively Media in Toronto.
‘We’re very proud of these two series,’ said Lively executive producer Leanna Crouch in a release. Breeder makes its main network debut this Saturday at 4 p.m. Chef’s Domain will air in November.
