Imax has named Julian Stanford as general manager of theater development in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Posted in London, the United International Pictures and video gaming veteran will look to increase Imax’s presence in the regions, where 15 new theaters are due to open by 2011.
Stanford was previously head of sales for the same region at UIP. He joins Imax from video game outfit Aristocrat Technologies and will report to EVP of theater development Larry O’Reilly.
‘Julian’s experience and understanding of the industry and market make him an ideal choice,’ said O’ Reilly in a release. ‘His personal relationships and knowledge of the industry and the nuances of conducting business throughout [the regions] will be extremely helpful as well.’
