Henson series comes north

Sid the Science Kid, a new preschooler series from The Jim Henson Company, is headed north and south of its home on PBS following pickups in Latin America and Canada.

The series has been bought by TVOntario, SCN and B.C.’s recently rebranded Knowledge, as well as by Discovery Kids Latin America.

The half-hour CG series debuted earlier this month on PBS and will be on the block next month at MIPCOM Jr. It is the second show, after Sesame Street, the Henson outfit has made for PBS.

‘The series has been extremely well received in the U.S. on PBS Kids, and we expect similar success as it rolls out internationally,’ said Peter Schube, president and COO of The Jim Henson Company, in a statement.
