TVOntario and Knowledge Network have signed up for Wibbly Pig, the new preschooler series in the works at Toronto’s 9 Story Entertainment and Wish Films in the U.K. The educasters join the BBC’s CBeebies in commissioning the animated series, which is due for delivery in spring.
‘Wibbly celebrates the power of imagination and the importance of creative play in the life of a young child’ said TVO children’s and daytime head Pat Ellingson, in a release.
The companies are also working together on an interactive addition to the series. Both 9 Story and BBC Worldwide are distributing, with the Toronto company handling all distribution rights for North America and Latin America, while the Beeb handles all other international rights.
The series comes from the Wibbly Pig series of books by author and artist Mick Inkpen.
