The Outdoor Life Network is now officially part of the Rogers Media brand, after the company assumed operation of the channel on Sunday.
This follows the closing of the purchase of the outdoor lifestyle and adventure specialty on Aug. 1 from previous owners CTVglobemedia and Versus. The deal, originally announced in November 2007, continues the expansion of Rogers’ television offerings, which also include the five Citytv stations, the OMNI channels, The Biography Channel, Sportsnet, Baseball TV and G4TechTV Canada.
‘We are thrilled to welcome OLN into our broadcast family and are pleased to be able to reach more viewers with the exciting and innovative programming OLN has to offer,’ commented Rogers VP of specialty TV and development Alain Strati in a release.
Fall highlights on OLN include the homegrown doc travel series ‘Which Way To…’ hosted by Eagar brothers Jeff, Chris and Steve, who explore the world through activities including hitchhiking across Peru on flatbed trucks and riding up the Nile River on a felucca boat.
The season will also see new programming such as The Academy, in which viewers get an inside look at some of the most intense police training in the U.S. Returning shows will include season 13 of The Amazing Race, while the Tour de France and the 2009 Dakar rally will headline adventure sports offerings.
