Global fills foreign bureaus

Global has staffed its four new foreign bureaus in London, Beijing, New Dehli and Jerusalem.

The network has tapped Global National weekend anchor Tara Nelson as its new bureau chief in London, where she will be joined by freelance reporter-turned-U.K.-foreign-editor Stuart Greer.

Global B.C. veteran Jas Johal will be stationed in New Delhi, while Ben O’Hara-Byrne and Lauren McNabb are off to China and Jerusalem, respectively. O’Hara-Byrne has previously reported for Global from Ottawa, Toronto and Montreal, while McNabb hails from Global Winnipeg.

‘We are particularly proud that we are able to fill all five of these high-profile positions with existing Global reporters,’ said newly appointed Global news boss Troy Reeb in a statement.

The five will begin filing stories next month for the net’s newscasts and a new current affairs show, 16:9. Plans for the weekly half-hour show are still being finalized, says Global, though it is looking to debut in November, featuring investigative journalism.
