Canwest was in a giving mood Wednesday, donating $200,000 to the Atlantic Film Festival Association.

The funds will be doled out over the next seven years to help promote upcoming films and filmmakers from the East Coast and to help bolster future productions coming through the fest.

Canwest is already a sponsor of some of the association’s activities, including its Inspired Music program, which fosters young talent in the music industry.

‘Atlantic Canada has a strong history of producing great storytellers,’ Canwest SVP Christine Shipton said in a statement, ‘and our long-term partnership with the Atlantic Film Festival will ensure that the creative talent in this community continues to be recognized and rewarded well into the future.’
