Michael Ironside has joined the cast of the new Terminator movie, appearing in the sci-fi sequel alongside star Christian Bale. The sci-fi vet, who is represented by Mary Jane MacCallum of The Arc agency outside Toronto, has been cast as ‘General Ashdown’ in Terminator: Salvation, which also stars Sam Worthington (Somersault) and Anton Yelchin (Hearts in Atlantis).

The Warner Bros. picture is shooting now at Albuquerque Studios and on location in New Mexico. It is the fourth film installment of the sci-fi franchise and stars Bale as John Conner, leader of a human resistance against marauding robots. Another two films are expected to be made.

Ironside and Bale worked together before in the 2004 indie flick The Machinist, though the Toronto native remains best known for his turns in Hollywood fare including The Perfect Storm, Total Recall and Starship Troopers.
