CTV Montreal has added Todd van der Heyden as co-anchor of its daily 6 p.m. newscast.

Van der Heyden will join anchor Mutsumi Takahashi as of Aug. 11 for the local CTV Evening News. Van der Heyden, known for his Montreal issues-focused On Your Side reports, will continue to co-host the midday newscast with Takahashi.

The veteran newscaster has been with the network since 2000, covering such pivotal events as the 9/11 attacks and the Quebec City Summit of the Americas riots.

‘This is a dream come true,’ van der Heyden said in a statement. ‘I am both honored and excited to become CTV’s evening news co-anchor in my home town — at a station with a wonderful history and legacy.’
