Corus Entertainment has shuffled its executive ranks, putting Doug Murphy atop its kiddie operations while president and CEO John Cassaday will fill in on the radio side.
Cassaday will take over as president at Corus Radio on an interim basis, filling in for John Hayes, who is leaving at the end of August. Mario Cecchini, Chris Pandoff, Doug Rutherford — who maintains control of the Edmonton-area stations — and Bryan Ellis become VPs for Quebec, Ontario, the west and planning, respectively, reporting to Cassaday.
Doug Murphy becomes president of animation giant Nelvana and EVP and general manager of Corus Kids, where he’ll be responsible for most of the company’s business with pint-sized viewers. Effective Aug. 5, he will be watching over all aspects of operations for YTV, Treehouse, Discovery Kids, Nelvana, KidsCo, qubo and Kids Can Press.
Former Corus Kids EVP and GM Scott Dyer moves up to CTO for Corus as of Aug. 5, reporting to Cassaday. Dyer will oversee all the company’s technology, especially as it relates to its planned move next year into its new Toronto corporate headquarters and broadcast facility.
