Entertainment One has hired Lara Thompson to handle worldwide acquisitions. The former Sony Pictures and Momentum exec is now SVP of worldwide acquisitions, reporting directly to filmed entertainment boss Patrice Théroux, and assuming responsibility for picking up titles in all E1 territories, including Canada, the U.K., Holland, Belgium and for home video in the U.S. She will remain based in L.A.

‘Lara is known for seeking out exciting projects and bringing the experience to E1 is a huge opportunity for all of our international markets,’ said Théroux in a release.

Entertainment One made headlines last week for its proposed acquisition of Barna-Alper Productions, Blueprint Entertainment, Oasis International and Maximum Films.

Thompson recently held a similar post at Sony Pictures, credited with closing deals for titles including Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk and Crank 2. Prior to Sony, she handled European acquisitions for Momentum Pictures, the U.K. distributor owned by Alliance Films.
