Toronto’s Tricon Films & Television has closed a series of international deals for its lifestyle programming, including popular series Restaurant Makeover and Fresh with Anna Olson, which air here on Food Network Canada.
Seasons two and three of Restaurant were picked up by Ukraine’s Menu TV, France’s Cuisine.TV and Ananey Communications in Israel. The food and design makeover series challenges two restaurant experts to renovate and relaunch struggling eateries.
Fresh, fronted by Ontario-based pastry chef Olson, is headed to broadcasters including MGM Latin America for its Casa Club TV channel and TV Paprika in Hungary.
Tricon also firmed up broadcaster deals for docu-soap Marriage Under Construction, sold to networks including The Home Channel in Africa and Canal+ in Poland, while seasons one and two of magazine series Ad Persuasion are headed to France, Scandinavia and Latin America. Persuasion examines the appeal of the world’s most inventive and bizarre commercials.
‘We’re certainly noticing an ever-increasing desire worldwide for innovative factual fare and formats,’ commented Tricon VP of distribution and development Carrie Mudd in a release, adding, ‘It’s an exciting time for us.’
