Cookie Jar goes Wild

Cookie Jar will have a big batch of new players for its online role-playing game Magi-Nation: Battle for the Moonlands, after it closed a deal with Redmond, WA-based games provider WildTangent.

The deal, announced Wednesday, makes the game available to WildTangent’s 30 million-plus paying users, marking a huge expansion for the series, game and brand.

The game was the first based on the CBC series Magi-Nation, and involves joining the show’s characters in saving the fictional Moonlands from impending domination. It was launched in beta format in March and has since been available free to fans on the show’s CBC-hosted website (www.cbc.ca/kids/games/magination).

‘Cookie Jar has done an outstanding job creating an extremely entertaining online game based on a renowned property with a fervent following,’ said WildTangent director of business development David Worle in a statement. ‘We anticipate the Moonlands online game experience to resonate loudly in the WildTangent community.’
